In their NBA summer league game against the Kings on Saturday, the Magic led by 18 points with less than five minutes to go and went on to win.
They got that win after a lot of crazy events.
Emanuel Terry's layup off a pass from Paolo Banchero gave the Magic a 94-92 victory in sudden-death overtime.
Magic summer coach Jesse Mermuys said that he will probably never forget that game.
Good reason. The Kings closed regulation on a 23-5 run, getting the last six of those points in the final 5.1 seconds on a pair of 3-pointers.
The fun was just beginning.
Ellis banked in a 3-pointer with 22 seconds left in the first overtime to give the Kings a 92-87 lead. The Kings had a chance to win it, but they were called for a foul with 6.2 seconds to go, and Cannady made all three of his free throws to tie it.
Ellis missed a short jumper with a second left in OT, and Cannady almost won the game with a 60-footer that bounced off the rim. The teams went to a second overtime and won.
The Kings would have gone to the line after a foul was called on Banchero, but the call was overturned after a lengthy review. The Magic won when Terry was found down low.
Cannady said that the game was one of the most enjoyable he had ever been a part of. I've played in the NCAA tournament, but this was basketball at its best.
He had six assists and four steals for the Magic. The man scored 14 points for the team.
The man with the most points was NeemiasQueta. Murray had 20 points and nine rebound. Murray made a tying 3-pointer with two-tenths of a second left in the game, but the first 3-pointer of the overtime period came from Queta.
