Denver Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr., who missed all but nine games last year due to back surgery, reported great news on his recovery as he was taking in his team's summer-league game with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday evening.
Porter said he thinks he's 100 percent at this point. I think it's a good thing. I think I'm doing well. I'm looking forward to playing basketball again.
During the 2020-21 season, Porter averaged 19.0 points on 54.2% shooting and 44.5% from three-point range.
Porter signed a five-year extension in September of 2021. Porter didn't return to the court again in 22 years after he left a game against Houston.
Porter is a scorer and a smooth shooter when he is healthy. He's a great complement to the big man because of his passing ability.
Back injuries have hampered the career of a very promising person. During his one year at Missouri, he was held to just three games after undergoing a microdiscectomy.
He was the 14th pick in the NBA draft. He had a second surgery one month later.
