A retired army general was suspended from his federal contract position after he made a joke about the support of abortion rights by the first lady.
Women have the right to make their own decisions about their bodies for almost 50 years. The federal right to an abortion was revoked by the Supreme Court.
"Tomorrow, we will continue to fight for our daughters and granddaughters, and for ourselves, until all women can decide our own futures once again," Biden said in a second message.
Gary Volesky is a retired lieutenant general.
Volesky's account no longer has the tweet on it.
USA Today reported that Volesky, a three-star general, was making $92 per hour when he responded to the First Lady on abortion.

There was a jab at the Biden administration's advocacy for the rights of trans people. Title IX protects against sex discrimination.
The Army is investigating whether Volesky broke decorum rules for retired officers.
The Army did not reply to Insider's request on Saturday.
