Scorecard |
India wrapped up the three-game series against England with a 49-run victory in the second Twenty20.
England's batting performance was disappointing as they were unable to score in 17 overs.
Roy was caught at slip off the first ball of the chase and Buttler was caught behind for four in the third over.
In India's performance, Jasprit Bumrah and Yuzvendra Chahal took two of the three bowling pins they were given.
In Buttler's second match as captain, David Willey's 33 not out prevented an even heavier defeat than the one England suffered in the first match.
India was restricted to 170-8 by England's bowlers.
Seamer Richard Gleeson made his England debut at the age of 34 and took 3-15, which included the big scalps of India captain RohitSharma for 31, and the dangerous Rishabh Pant for 26.
Chris Jordan took 4-27 but Ravindra Jadeja's 46 not out from 29 balls proved crucial in lifting India to a challenging total
The series finale is on Sunday at Trent Bridge. Next week there are three one-day internationals.
England have set the benchmark in white-ball cricket for the past five years under Morgan but they have been comprehensively outplayed for the second game in a row.
The batting, usually England's strength in this format, cost them after the bowlers put in a good show.
After a review showed Buttler had got a toe end on an attempted cut, the hosts never looked like recovering.
There was a chaotic run-out for Chris Jordan and the way last man Matt Parkinson was hit by a yorker almost made the gulf between the sides more pronounced.
If England are going to compete at the T20 World Cup in October, they need to start playing better cricket.
The more likely winners are India, who were able to recall their players after they sat out the first match.
There is more to come.
