The left wing had been linked in a number of trade rumors before the deadline. David Poile said on March 1 that he wanted to extend the alternate captain's contract before the deadline.

Poile said in an interview that he was from Nashville.

I'm trying to sign the man, not trade him. It has not been completed. I'm not sure when it will get done. I don't know if it will happen. Neither side wants it to happen, but it hasn't happened yet.

In the 2012 draft, Forsberg was selected by the Caps, before they traded him to the Preds. In 566 games, the Swede has racked up 220 goals and 249 assists.

He had 42 goals and 42 assists in 69 games during the 21st century.
