The town has been talking about the show throughout the spring and summer. In the first part of the season, Max was saved from the clutches of Vecna by listening to Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill". The band gave the show more than just their stamp of approval when they played the song "Master of Puppets."

As played by D&D nerd Eddie Munson on his electric guitar in an attempt to save his friends in the Upside Down, "Master" has become another defining moment of the season. In order to complete the cycle and bring perfect balance, the band released a video on Tiktok of themselves performing the song with Eddie. The band is all wearing Hellfire Club t-shirts.

The Duffer Brothers were thanked by the band on their official account. They wrote that they were excited for the show to include the Master of Puppets. The lead guitarist and son of the band's bassist were the ones who played the song. They were completely blown away by the final product even though they knew the song would be included in the series. They were surprised that their own fans were able to figure out that Eddie was playing "Master" from a few snippets of his fingers in the trailer.

During pre-production, the Duffers wrote a song that would be used in the season, according to the music supervisor. She said that there wasn't any other song discussed, and that they secured the rights to use it immediately. It was important that the band understood how important it was to the scene and Eddie. It is likely that the character and the song will be associated with one another for a long time now that the scene has been dropped.

You can watch all four seasons of the show on the streaming service.
