Mick Mulvaney, who was the acting White House chief of staff, said that a friend who was in the White House during the Capitol riot told him that Trump's chief of staff was having a nervous breakdown.

During an interview with CBS Friday, Mulvaney said that he trusts testimony given to the House committee investigating the attack. Hutchinson said thatMeadows was disengaged.

He said he was texting a friend who was in the West Wing.

Mulvaney said that if he listened closely, it sounded like Mark was incompetent at the job or had a nervous breakdown.

In a moment like the insurrection, the position of chief of staff was critical, but he seems to have quit completely.

According to Mulvaney, he defended former President Trump for more than a year and argued that his actions were not criminal.

After the committee announced a break from public hearings until July, Hutchinson testified at a last minute hearing.

She told the committee that Trump was aware that some rally attendees at the Ellipse were armed and that he wanted to go to the Capitol with his supporters.

She said the former president tried to get the steering wheel of the vehicle to change direction.

Hutchinson has no reason to lie, according to Mulvaney.

Text messages at the end of the hearing show that Trump may have intimidated witnesses.

The committee subpoenaed Pat Cipollone after Hutchinson testified, and he spoke to the committee Friday.

After the meeting, Lofgren said that Cipollone did not contradict anything that other witnesses said, but that it was not the same as confirmation.
