Lawyers for Musk filed paperwork with the SEC to end the deal to acquire the micro-blogging site. The lawyers for the CEO of the company accused the company of being in violation of multiple provisions of the agreement and of making false and misleading statements.
Lawyers for Musk said in the filing that they had failed or refused to provide the information.
Sometimes it has ignored Mr Musk's requests, sometimes it has rejected them for reasons that seem to be unwarranted, and sometimes it has claimed to comply while giving Mr Musk incomplete or unusable information," they said.
In May, Musk said the deal was on hold and last month he accused the social media platform of resisting his efforts to gain clarity.
Twitter said it was "committed" to closing the deal on the terms it agreed with Musk in a press release shortly after the filing and announced plans to take legal action to "enforce the merger agreement".The board is confident that it will win in the Delaware Court of Chancery, according to the board's chairman.
