Ireland beat the All Blacks in New Zealand for the first time in their history to level the three- match series.
The All Blacks were reduced to 14 men when Ta'avao was sent off.
Andrew Porter scored a try in each of the first two quarters.
Next week's winner-take-all meeting will decide the series.
Ireland have won four of the last seven meetings against New Zealand, the most emphatic example being their most recent victory.
Their cause was aided by New Zealand, who had trouble with their discipline and were reduced to 13 men in the first half.
Ireland will get a huge response next week, but will not fear anything as they try to win the series.
