The biggest victory in this year's recruiting cycle came when Peter Woods committed to the school on Friday.
Woods did it because he loved his family.
He said that being close to his family is a big part of who he is. I know that the staff is going to do whatever it takes to make me a better man regardless of how I do at football. You can't ask for anything else.
Woods, a defensive tackle from Thompson High School in Alabaster, Alabama, is one of the top 10 defensive tackles in the next decade. Alabama, Florida and Jackson State were chosen by him.
The Tiger's recruiting class is sixth in the rankings, and Woods is their seventh prospect. In June, 12 players committed to the program, which was kicked into high gear by the team.
Woods is the second recruit to join the team this week, after offensive tackle Zechariah Owens.
Woods recorded 92 tackles, 26 tackles for loss and 11 sacks as a junior at Thompson High School.
"I feel like myVersatility is probably going to be what sets me apart from a lot of guys that they have on the team and that they are recruiting," Woods said. If I have to, I'll stand up all the way down to a zero technique.
He was aware of where most people thought he would go. Woods is taking his future into his own hands by following his own path.
Woods thinks people are going to be shocked. That's what I was expecting. A lot of people expected me to be a ''Bama lock'' or a ''Bama lean'' or a ''Bama bot'' That isn't the story. I don't feel like where I grew up should dictate where I go in the future.
