An 8-year-old boy whose spine was severed in the shooting at a Fourth of July parade is conscious for the first time and wants to see his twin brother.

Cooper Roberts is paralyzed from the waist down because of the bullets that hit his chest.

The boy was put on a breathing machine. He is in a serious condition with a lot of pain, but he is getting better.

The Fourth of July parade was where he and his brother enjoyed themselves.

The family is thinking of a new normal for Cooper, who was wounded in a hail of gunfire that left seven people dead in Highland Park, according to a family spokesman.

The boys and their mother were hurt but not as badly. The father was not hurt.

A man who was hit by a piece of metal is home. Some of the shards are in his body because they would cause a lot of damage if they were removed. The twins are the youngest of six siblings, and their four older sisters are with them while Cooper is in the hospital.

The mother may need a third surgery after she was shot twice in the foot and leg.

She probably should not have left the hospital. She told her doctors and nurses that she would walk out on her own if they didn't let her stay.

He said that the school district where she works is receiving offers of support from other districts. She needs help so she can focus on her family.

He said that the family was devastated but they were focused on Cooper. Emotions have been running high for everyone in the circle. She is just a fighter. It seems like Cooper has that part of her in him because he is fighting as hard as he can.

There was little information about the shooting. He didn't know where the family stood or who helped them when shots were fired.

He said that he hadn't had a conversation with him. I have tried to keep the focus on what we can do to help her and her son.

The boy was a big fan of the Milwaukee Brewers.

He said that he talks to his mother about him every time.

There is an ongoing treatment and therapy that Cooper will need in order for the family to be able to afford it. He said that Roberts works hard for her students and often sends emails in the early hours of the morning.

He said that she and her family needed our help now. We want you to keep the Roberts family in your thoughts and prayers, as well as all of the people affected by this tragedy.
