According to Ellen Lee, a portfolio manager at Causeway Capital Management, there are some stocks with upsides in the current bear market.
Lee said during an interview on "Wall Street Week" that Las Vegas Sands is likely to benefit from China easing its Covid-19 lockdowns. She said that Nelson Peltz, an activist investor who joined the board, will spur a faster pace of boosting profitability for the company.
Lee believes the activist will push the management to speed up the timetable. They are doing things inside to make their sales better.
The path for the Federal Reserve to raise rates aggressively to combat inflation was cleared after a stronger-than- expected employment report.
Liz Ann Sonders, chief investment strategist at Charles Schwab Corp., said that one good week doesn't mean a bottom in the bear market.
Sonders said on "Wall Street Week" that there are storms that need to be weathered.
