The two companies are not on the same page when it comes to Musk's attempt to back out of his proposed acquisition. A brief formal statement was issued by the company regarding Musk's attempt to end the merger.

The two sentence response reads as follows.

We are committed to closing the transaction on the price and terms agreed upon with Mr. Musk and plan to pursue legal action to enforce the merger agreement. We are confident we will prevail in the Delaware Court of Chancery.

It is clear that the approach was prepared in advance and had been ready for this moment. They will most likely do the rest of their talking in a negotiation room or in court.

Musk seems to be intent on pressing the bots issue and has repeatedly brought it up prior to now, but it's also possible that this is some variety of "negotiating in public," since the share price and market value of the company has declined since the billionaire first announced his intent
