According to posts on social media, a large primate skull was found in British Columbia. He wrote that he hid the discovery for several weeks from government officials and anyone else who might try to stop the excavation. Experts told Live Science that the claim is highly suspect and that it may be illegal to secretly extract and transport animal remains.

The skull is safe, as will probably the video by government or state park officials. I'm not sure if it's a primate skull or not, but I can't help but wonder! What do you think is true? There are no large primate that currently live in North America, and though tales of elusive forest-dwelling hominids such as Bigfoot have existed for centuries, there is no evidence to suggest they exist.

He wrote on his website that he would release the skull on the internet this weekend. Scientists questioned the credibility of the claim and suggested that his actions might cross ethical and legal lines.

"Smuggling any primate specimen into the United States, even if 'found' in the wild is illegal," wrote Jonathan Kolby, a science consultant and National Geographic explorer. Even if you think you found Bigfoot, you might not be allowed to use this.

It's related to ancient surgical implant or modern-day fake. There is a mystery surrounding the skull of a person.

Yinan Wang is a graduate student in the Geospatial Intelligence program and author of " The 50 State Fossils: A Guidebook for aspiring Paleontologists" Wang included a side-by-side comparison of the two products.

"This is definitely a gorilla skull, as is obvious from numerous anatomical details, and as verified by a list of experts," said Naish. It seems like it is the same as a cast of a gorilla skull.

We can shut down the idea that it's a skull of a primate immediately. Nope, that's right. It's a cast of animals.

He said in his posts that the skull is safe and awaiting a primatologist review. The "secure location" of the skull isn't specified, but if it's in the U.S., it's possible that he smuggled it across the U.S.-Canadian border.

The act of transporting a skull into the U.S. would be illegal if it were true.

CITES is an international treaty aimed at ensuring that international trade of wild animal and plant specimen doesn't threaten the survival of those species. It's very irresponsible to suggest that a person could find a primate specimen in the wild and then just move it around.

Breaking news I've seen on Facebook and Insta: Coyote Peterson is claiming to have discovered the skull of a non-human primate in British Columbia. Is talking about this as if it's for real... pic.twitter.com/YPlmuiHdmMJuly 7, 2022

You can see more.

The Canada National Parks Act and National Park General Regulations make it illegal for someone to find a skull in a national park. It's against the law to remove natural objects from a park without a permit, and it's also against the law to sell wildlife from a park. The Royal B.C. Museum, a local museum or the B.C. Fossil Management Office are the only places in British Columbia where people can collect fossils.

Naish said that the "conspiracy- mongering" language in the posts worsens the situation.

Naish said that he was told that this was a stunt done to promote an upcoming video. It is possible that this is meant to be harmless fun. It's not a good look in an age where anti-scientific feelings are a serious problem. This stunt has backfired.
