Ellis Genge believes that England needs to be better in the second Test against Australia.

Jack van Poortvliet will make his first start in the game.

According to Genge, England underestimated their opponents.

They were better than we thought they would be. It was probably naive of us to think that. He was good for them.

What are we going to do to change that? On Saturday, you'll find out. You should go harder. We need to be better all the time. We need to be better because of the loss. We're not going to be caught cold.

Tom Curry has been ruled out of the tour due to concussion and will be replaced by Sam Underhill.

England lost the first Test in Perth 30-28 despite scoring two tries.

I don't believe we were that far off. Genge said that they were good, really good, and that they got punished for being off anything.

Everyone wants to know if you'll be up for the next game. We're course we are. We would like to win. We will be fired up for it.

Taniela Tupou missed the first Test because of a calf injury and will be up against the Bristol tight-head in the second Test.

The best tight-heads in the world are what I like to play against. I've never met him. Everyone has seen his highlights reel when he was a teenager. He said that he was a large lump.

We are going to have patience - Lawes

Courtney Lawes
Lawes has taken over the England captaincy from Owen Farrell

Lawes sayspatience will be required while the side are developing.

"Just because we have a new team and a new strategy doesn't mean that we don't think we can beat Australia." Lawes said we definitely do.

We will do everything we can to win the series. We've had a discussion about why we're changing.

It will allow us to be a better team for it. It will take time to get there and we will have patience.

We will go through ups and downs. As long as we're building towards an end product which is in the forefront of our minds, that's all we need.

We are as tight a team as I have ever been a part of. That is absolutely legit. All of us are on the same page because of that.

We are confident that we will win this weekend. We know that we're going to make some mistakes, we're going to have to find some things out about ourselves, and we're going to have to keep improving.

The Brisbane factor

The host's favourite venue is where England must beat Australia to stop the Aussies from winning the cup.

Three of Australia's victories have been against South Africa, two against France, and one against New Zealand.

The last time England defeated the Aussies was in 2016 when they beat them 39-28.

In 1998, England suffered their worst loss in Test history.

Teams

Australia has Petaia, Wright, Paisami, Kerevi, Koroibete, Lolesio, White and Bell.

Sio, Gordon, O'Connor and Perese are replacements.

Genge, George, Stuart, Itoje, Hill and Lawes are England's captains.

The referee is Andrew Brace.
