The company plans to retire its older 3G network by the end of 2022, so it is giving away 4G flip phones to customers who are still using it.
People who haven't upgraded to a 4G phone will be issued the devices. Anyone on the older network won't be able to place or receive calls after it's shut down. Customers will receive an Orbic Journey V, a FLIP Pro or aNokia 2720 V flip. There are at least one or two-star reviews for those devices.
Some people may already have a 4G device from a family member or friend who has moved on to a newer 5G phone, so they may not be interested in taking the offer. If you don't want to get the new phones, you can call customer support. Plans and contracts will not change.
If a customer doesn't do it, the devices will be activated.
AT&T and T-Mobile both retired their 3G networks and offered new phones for free.
