Kim M Ferry is a character from The Office.
Ferry was a member of The Office's hair and makeup crew for eight seasons.
Ferry has worked as a hairdresser for a variety of movies and TV shows since she was hired to work on the science fiction series Babylon 5 in 1994. Ferry has worked with many different casts and crews over the years, but she considers The Office her best job to date.
Some of the most memorable hair moments from the show were talked about by Ferry. We talked about how she uses her social media accounts to engage fans and help keep the show's memory alive.

When Kent Zbornak reached out and asked if she wanted to work on The Office, Ferry said she was still working on Veronica Mars. I worked with him on a couple of shows and we had a good relationship. That's how I got invited. I didn't do the first six episodes of the show. I did not participate in those. Definitely Season 2.
She was excited to make a few changes when she joined the show. I spoke to the actors about their looks. What do you want to do next? What changes would you like to make? What do you think about the situation? She said that sort of thing. The show's greatest glow-up was Michael Scott's new hair.
I didn't have control of the hair department head in the first season. When I got the job, they sent me some tapes of the show, and I thought, "Oof." The ferry said something. It was a very severe look on Steve. I wanted to speak to him about it. He said he wanted to change it.

Carell's hair looked different in the first season. I was told that his character in the first six episodes would be similar to Gordon Gekko in the movie Wall Street. It was supposed to be slick. She said it wasn't flattering, but she felt like it made him as well. She wanted Michael Scott to be a little more likeable because she already knew and loved Carell.
Steve is a good looking man. I wanted to show that and make him look better. She re-styled Carell's hair, did some blow-drying, and added a little lift to create the softer image that fans know and love today.
Ferry had a big impact on the show and its cast. During the third season of The Office, John Krasinski asked to wear a wig so that he could play a football player in a movie. The Leatherheads role required Krasinski to cut his hair, which Office showrunner Greg Daniels wasn't on board with. Krasinski went to Ferry for assistance in getting a wig for himself.
Ferry remembers Krasinski coming to her with a dilemma, and though she was putting her job at risk, she said yes. He paid for a human hair wig made by Natascha Ladek, who is the best wig maker in town. She made a wig for him and it looked great. I hid the wig in a secret spot so Krasinski wouldn't see it. I put it on him when it was just me and him.
Krasinski drove straight to Daniels' office after shooting and made his case for starring in Leatherheads again.

Ferry said that she followed Krasinski to Daniels' office as soon as she found out he was gone. She was told that Krasinski was talking to Daniels and Zbornak after she arrived. B.J. Novak walked over to her and asked if it was about John's wig. Ferry was terrified that Novak and the rest of the writers knew about the stunt she and Krasinski had pulled, but before she could come clean, Novak told her. I saw John and I think we'll know if it's a wig or not.
I'm not sure. He doesn't know that John is wearing a wig. I felt better because of it. I was interested in that. Ferry was summoned into Daniels' office. "I looked at B.J. and said, 'It was nice working with you,' and I saw Greg sitting at his desk and John sitting next to him."

Greg said, 'Woah.' I said I didn't see that coming. Krasinski walked into the office with the wig on and pitched the reasons why he should be allowed to wear it on the show. Greg kept saying no. If you're wearing a wig, I can tell. John leaned over the desk and said no. We had to do the wig after he ripped it off.
He really wanted to do that movie and I didn't want to let him down. It was nerve-racking, but it turned out okay. I would like to thank god.
While Krasinski's wig may have been Ferry's most stressed hair moment from the show, her favorite hairstyle was when she shaved her head.
It took me three weeks to figure everything out because Greg Daniels wanted Kate to shave her head. He definitely did. Ferry said that he couldn't allow it. Flannery was like, "I don't want to shave my head!" and I was like, "I'm not going to let that happen!" Ed French is a makeup artist known for his work with Bald Caps.

When Flannery had to be all bald, he did that with the help of Ferry. It was difficult to make her hair look like a flat skull because she has so much hair. I bought a bunch of human hair that was the same as hers and she let go of it.
Ferry had to coordinate with the props department to make sure that the fake-shave was done correctly. The prop master created a clipper with a smooth piece in place of a blade because dragging a real razor across the bald cap could have torn the artificial limb. The fake head shave was mastered by Flannery. Some people think that Flannery shaved her head for the part.

"Lice" was a hair episode for many of the characters, who had to apply mayonnaise to their hair to kill the bugs. For those wondering what it was like to sit for hours on set with a head covered in mayonnaise, Ferry revealed that the paste wasn't actually a sauce.
"If you're doing a scalp massage, there's something called Cholesterol, and I know it sounds bad, because 'cholesterol', but if you're doing a scalp massage, it has this very sweet scent to it," she said. It looks a lot like mayonnaise.
Ferry immediately voiced her concerns when she saw the scene called for mayo-covered hair. If you're going to put mayonnaise in their hair it's going to stink. She doesn't want to do that to anyone. Their hair was soft and nice becauseCholesterol is a great product. No one was upset.

Ferry was a fan of The Office and still is, even after she left the show. The account is dedicated to sharing stories from her time on the show. It's all thanks to her own Office time capsule, a storage unit in California that holds the photos, call sheets, continuity books, wigs, props, knickknacks, and gifts she's saved from past television jobs.
"That's literally my one in a million. It's the best job I've ever had."
Ferry has a unique, behind-the-scenes point of view that she shares in her lengthy, descriptive caption. She shared photos of her wigs, Kevin's notorious toupee, Jim and Pam's wedding program, and many more. She uses mannequin heads to show how to make popular hair styles from the show, such as Pam's hair.
Since the production of The Office ran over a few weeks and Ferry had an obligation to start her next job on the show, she missed the final days of filming. She used to do hair for a show about a paper company. Fans of the show can find new behind-the-scenes stories on her account.

We were fortunate. The family was fun and messed up. Ferry said it was great. The cast and crew got along well. Each of us would have a birthday for the other. We would visit each other's homes. We would hang out together. The shower was a family affair. All of us were so close.
Ferry said that he was grateful for the whole experience. There are many jobs, but not The Office. It is my one in a million. The job is the best I've ever had.
You can watch The Office on Peacock.
