According to new details, Vince McMahon made payments to keep women out of his sight.

The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday that the former CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment paid over $12 million to four women with ties to the company in order to keep them quiet about their sexual relationships.

According to the Journal, McMahon is alleged to have:

  • Paid $1 million in 2006 to a former manager who was allegedly in a sexual relationship with him
  • Paid $1 million in 2008 to a contractor who claimed McMahon sent her unsolicited nude photos, and also claimed he sexually harassed her.
  • Paid $7.5 million in 2018 to a former wrestler who claimed that he pressured her into giving him oral sex, and then demoted her and declined to renew her contract in 2005. The Journal reported that WWE's board was investigating the agreement.
  • Paid $3 million to a former paralegal he allegedly had a sexual relationship with, which was previously reported by the Journal last month. The Journal reported that WWE's board was also investigating this agreement.

According to the Journal, the board is investigating an alleged relationship between a former paralegal and John Laurinaitis, the head of talent relations, as well as a $1.5 million agreement between him and another former wrestler who claimed he was the victim of sexual harassment.

An attorney for McMahon did not reply to a request from Insider. A WWE spokesman told the Journal that McMahon's relationship with the former paralegal was consensual and that it was cooperating with the board's investigation.

A special committee of the board was looking into allegations against McMahon and Laurinaitis.

McMahon stepped away from his role as CEO while the investigation was going on. McMahon's daughter and the company's brand chief stepped in as interim CEOs

McMahon said in a statement that he would accept the findings and outcome of the investigation, whatever they are.
