Verstappen has won six of the 10 races in 2022 so far

Red Bull's Max Verstappen set a fast pace in the first practice for the Austrian Grand Prix.

The leader was quicker than Leclerc. George Russell was third, 0.145 seconds behind.

The team-mate was 0.207 seconds behind Lewis Hamilton.

The starting positions for the main grand prix are determined by qualifications on Saturday.

While everyone else at the front set their times on the softs, Kevin Magnussen, Carlos Sainz, Fernando Alonso, and the second Red Bull of Sergio Perez all used the medium tires.

The Alpha Tauri was finished in the top 10.

Lando's McLaren was removed from the track after it broke down after Turn Four and there were two red flags.

It was a challenge for McLaren. It took the team most of the hour to solve Daniel Ricciardo's DRS flap, which was a problem for most of the race.

Valtteri Bottas will start from the back of the grid because he used too many engine parts.
