Peter Navarro, a Trump-era White House advisor, weighed in on who his former boss should pick to be on the ticket.

He thinks former President Donald Trump should pick a running mate early and highlight who he thought was a good choice. He said that Trump should avoid "danger zone winners" like Haley and Cruz.

He urged Trump to pick a running mate who was a true populist economic nationalist in an opinion piece published by the Daily Caller.

He wrote that the former Secretary of State would be a good vice president candidate.

He slammed the former Vice President, calling him an "et tu Brute RINO." He removed Haley, who he described as "ever-dangerous", and Cruz, who he called a "good 'conservative' in the narrow sense but simply does not haveMAGA in his genes."

Tom Cotton didn't have the charisma and charm to campaign effectively as a vice president according to Navarro.

The former Trump aide said that the two men would be unstoppable if they were to be Trump's running mates.

"DeSantis should see the wisdom of accepting such an offer from Trump as it would similarly clear the field for him in 2028 and pave the way for him to become president through 2036," he wrote.

Ron, remember that patience is as much a virtue as it is a weakness. He told the boss to lead with intelligence and not worry about it. A Trump-DeSantis ticket is going to be a big hit.

The representatives for Cruz, Cotton, Desantis, Haley, Hawley, and Trump did not reply to the requests for comment from Insider.

They haven't said if they'll run in 2024. In the wake of damning testimonies from witnesses called upon by the House panel investigating the Capitol riot, there has been speculation that Trump will announce his candidacy early.

Trump has been teasing a presidential run for several years. A video surfaced in January that showed Trump calling himself the 45th and 47th president.

There are indications that he has presidential ambitions, but in October he said he wouldn't consider a presidential run because he was busy.
