The popular music recognition service has updated its app so that it syncs with the Music Recognition feature in the device's operating system.
The app is designed to listen for music that is playing and provide a song title and artist for identification purposes. Through the Music Recognition button in the Control Center, Apple's phones and tablets can be used with or without the app installed.
It was thought that the sync feature between Music Recognition in Control Center and the Shazam app was limited to devices running theiOS 16 developer beta, but now it's open to all.
There is a new feature in this update. The current device's song identification history was only displayed when the Music Recognition button was pressed. It will show all songs from any device signed into the same Apple ID regardless of whether it was done through the app or Control Center.
Apple's mobile devices have had a system-level song recognition function since the release of the latest version of the OS.
In September of 2021, Apple announced that the Music Recognition feature in Control Center had reached one billion cumulative recognitions.
