A team of scientists in Argentina say they have found a giant predatory dinosaur that had a huge head but small arms.

The skeletons of a previously unknown species were found in the north of Argentina.

The arms of the Meraxes gigas were only 2 feet long.

The scientists think small limbs give them an advantage.

I'm pretty sure that the proportionally tiny arms had something to do with it. Juan Canale is the lead author of the study.

He said that the arms may have been used to support themselves after a break or a fall.

The dinosaur's arms were half the length of its skull and it wouldn't have been able to reach its mouth, according to his co-author.

The big heads of the species were thought to be the main predatory tool, taking on the functions of arms.

Carcharodontosaurids, also known as shark-toothed lizards, were named after the fictional dragon from the Game of Throne book series.

Some 100 million years ago, the Earth is thought to have been inhabited by four-ton reptile.

Two other species of dinosaurs developed small arms for the same reason.
