Red Dead Online will no longer receive major themed content updates because of the upcoming Grand Theft Auto title, according to the studio. Red Dead Online isn't being shut down, but fans are wondering if the game has been abandoned.

Over the past few years, we have been moving more development resources towards the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series, knowing more than ever the need to exceed players' expectations and for this next entry to be the best it can possibly be.

Along with seasonal special events and experience improvements, along with other changes to enhance and maintain a healthy Red Dead Online environment, we plan to build upon existing modes and add new Telegram Missions this year.

A Red Dead franchise fan account had planned a funeral for Red Dead Online on July 13th, the one-year anniversary of the game's most recent major update. The funeral is still going to happen.

Who's up for it then? A funeral to celebrate one year of Red Dead Online being abandoned?
