The semifinalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame were announced on Thursday.

The Hall's 12 person Coach/Contributor Committee selected 27 other semifinalists, while the 12 person Seniors Committee announced 25 of their own.

He won two Super Bowls in Denver with Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway and had a 170-138 record as a head coach in the National Football League.

Over the course of two decades, he led his teams to eight playoff appearances. He was the Broncos offensive coach from 1985-87 and the 49ers offensive coach from1992-94.

In 17 seasons with the Packers and the Seahawks, Holmgren went 161-109. He won the Super Bowl with the Packers in 1996 and went to the big game three times in his career.

His coaching tree is the stuff of legend, with head coaches such as AndyReid, Jon Gruden, Steve Mariucci and Mike Sherman, among others, once working on his staff.

Other notable names in the coaching/contributor category include former HoustonOilers and TennesseeTitans owner, president and CEO Bud Adams.

Notable names in the seniors category include five-time Pro Bowl defensive back Billy "White Shoes" Johnson and three-time Super Bowl winner Roger Craig.
