James Murray, the director of the Secret Service, will be leaving his post at the end of the month to become the chief security officer at a company called Snap.

The Washington Post reported on Thursday that Murray was leaving the government and moving to the private sector. Murray will join the company next month and will be reporting to the CEO.

Pete Boogaard, a spokesman for the company, said in a statement that they were excited to have Jim Murray join the team.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Jim Murray to Snap”

Murray will help protect the safety and security of Snap employees and work with law enforcement when needed.

Murray was praised by the Secret Service for his work while carrying out the agency's "integrated mission of providing protection to senior elected leaders and investigating crimes targeting our financial infrastructure"

The agency protects the safety of presidents, their families, and other high level US officials. The House launched a probe into Donald Trump's role in inciting riots at the US Capitol in January.

President Joe Biden said of Murray, "Jim embodies the meaning of service over self and protects the families of U.S. Presidents like they were part of his own." He has served our country and our family very well.
