You can spend hundreds of hours playing through the best games, but you shouldn't sleep on the best App Lab games and side loaded games. Many of the experiences they offer are free or cheap. Others are mod's of classic PC games that won't make the store official. These games often cost money to play, even though they opened up a whole new world of experiences. We gathered a lot of free titles to check out, so you don't have to commit to spending money.

H.A.X. is a first-person shooter where your clip is more than just something you put into the gun. It also doubles as a katana, a hatchet that you can throw, and so much more. It's similar to a Swiss army knife. The demo version of the game is only for single player and can only be found on the sidequest and the app lab. There is a lot of action in the demo.

Hibow

There is a lot of fun to be had in archery in the real world and the virtual world. If the arrows pulled you through the air, what would it look like? Hibow is an archery battle Royale title that puts players in an arena and promises to keep you moving.

The arcade enthusiasts are rejoicing. It is a seminal example of how classic arcade shooters made the leap to virtual reality. There are a variety of styles and themes in the levels of Operation Serpens. It's not just bad guys with guns that you'll have to worry about, as you'll be tasked with destroying the Snakes Organization. This wave shooter has you coming back multiple times to beat your high score.

Rhythm N' Bullets

You can get Rhythm N' Bullets if you combine a classic shoot-em-up with a rhythm shooter. Shoot the enemies in wave after wave of arcade action, if you take your ship in hand. Don't forget to keep moving. You can't beat the levels if you don't.

Crisis VRigade 2

The first crisis virtual reality game used a cartoonish graphics engine, but the developers improved the visual quality in the second game. This game has new difficulty modes, bosses, weapons, and customization options. Save the day by ducking and dodging levels.

QuestZDoom

If you've bought Doom and Doom II on Steam, you'll be able to play them in virtual reality. 6DoF motion tracking is needed to get violent and shoot 8-bit baddies.

Lambda1VR

Half-life: Alyx will never come to the quest 2, so enjoy the next best thing, and check out the HEV suit in this virtual reality mod of Half-life 1. You'll be crowbarring headcrabs, shooting enemies, and dodging attacks if you purchase the original game and install the mod. Running in old virtual reality worlds can cause nausea if you don't have strong virtual reality legs.

Tea For God

This prototype game uses a system called the Guardian to create a maze for you to explore. The maze is impossible if you don't shoot your enemies. Tea for God is one of the best side loaded games for the second edition of the game. It uses hand- tracking tech to shoot finger-guns at enemies.

Deisim

In this early-access title, guide the human race towards prosperity and destroy heretics. You use tiles of land and spells to shape society. It would be helpful if you occasionally used your power to deal with troublemakers and keep humans on the right path. New features in recent updates include modern and futuristic societies, warring kingdoms, and even alien life forms.

Pavlov: Shack

Some of the best shooting mechanics can be found on the stripped-down port. You can team up with friends to kill zombies or kill friends and strangers alike in Death match. It's free because it's the most popular Sidequest app. If you want an App Lab version, the developers are working on it.

Ancient Dungeon Beta

You can dive into a world with a sword, throwing knives, and arrows, facing random enemies and bosses in physics-based combat, and discover secrets in this extremely popular version of the game. You can dodge attacks, take different paths, buy items with the loot you find, and generally survive. Considering it's free, there's a lot to enjoy.

Swordsman

If you are one of those weekend warriors who go to renaissance fairs and engage in combat with a foam sword covered in duct tape and a wooden shield, we have something for you. The game puts you on the armor of a powerful sword swinger from a variety of time periods and uses real time physics to mimic the look and feel of a real sword fight. You can slice and dice as a samurai, a knight, a viking, and a member of the Mongol horde. Simple sword swingers are just one of the many enemies.

Frenzy VR

During a game of Grand Theft Auto, this occurs. You've done a few missions for the boss or done a few side hustles. When you start to get bored, you just start driving recklessly or fighting with the people you know. There is a virtual version of that moment. Everything in the game can be broken and used as a weapon. You can break windows, fight friends and enemies with weapons or your bare hands, and even step into the UFC with an MMA fighter and take him out. There are so many possibilities. Reducing things to rubble has always been enjoyable.

It's hard to find App Lab games if you don't have a direct link or exact name. There are hundreds to sort through, so we recommend you start without favorites.

If you want to enable unofficial titles in your official library, you have to follow our guide on how to sideload content on the quest. The extra effort will be worth it for adventurous players. The App Lab games and side loaded games are just as good as the best games on the official store.

You'll be able to spend more than a few hours in these games because they spend less resources on graphics and more on fun. You can sink a lot of hours into procedural titles like Ancient Dungeon, which will let you play for a long time. If they don't "immerse" you in the same way as official Quest Store games, the best App Lab titles and the best-side loaded games for the Oculus Quest 2 have plenty of unique fun to offer.
