In October 2020, the company said West stopped paying rental fees for 13 pieces.

If the rapper can't return the items, he owes the archive $200,000. In the complaint, lawyers for David Casavant Archive said that West and his company haven't responded to many inquiries regarding the outstanding fees.

Key Background

West, who legally changed his name to Ye last year, is in the middle of a divorce. Their split was reported in January 2021, two years after they were married. In May of this year, the reality TV star was declared single. An irreconcilable breakdown in the attorney-client relationship was cited as the reason for West's fourth divorce attorney stepping down. West is accused of sampling Marshall Jefferson's song "Move Your Body" on the song "Flowers" without the musician's consent.

Less than two weeks before the festival, Yeezus West is said to pull out.

The rapper was pulled from performing at the awards over online behavior.
