'Godfather' Star James Caan Dead at 82

James Caan was best known for his roles in "Brian's Song" and "The Godfather."

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Jimmy on the evening of July 6.

Caan's breakthrough role was in 1972 when he played Sonny on "The Godfather". He was nominated for an Academy Award for his performance.

He reprised his role in the sequel.

Caan played Brian Piccolo in a song.

"Misery," "Dick Tracy" and "Elf" were some of the films James was in.

Caan was the son of Jews from Germany. His dad worked in the butchery.

He was a football player at Michigan State.

Caan was a fixture at the Playboy Mansion in the 70's and 80's and was always open about his opinions.

Scott is an actor who starred in "Hawaii Five-0".

James was married to Linda from 1995 to 2009

James passed away at the age of 22.
