The new spatial audio experience will be available for the streaming service.

Stereo audio will be enhanced with anImmersive surround sound experience that is compatible with all devices, all streaming plans, and that does not require surround sound speakers or home theater equipment.

The feature will allow spatial audio on devices that don't normally support it. It is separate technology from the spatial audio support that has been available on spatial audio compatible Apple hardware since August 2021.

When watching a compatible TV show or movie, subscribers who do not have surround sound speakers or devices that work with the traditional spatial audio feature will be able to hear it.

If you're not familiar with spatial audio, it's a sound experience that sounds like it comes from all around you.

Users can find shows and movies with spatial audio by typing it into the search bar.

For those who have spatial audio compatible Apple devices, nothing will change. There are compatible Apple headphones that include the third-generation AirPods.

The compatible Apple devices are the iPhone 7 or later, iPad Air third-generation and later, iPad mini fifth- generation and later, and iPad Pro third-generation or later. The Apple TV 4K needs to be running tvOS 15 or above, and the iPhones and iPads need to be running the latest version of the software.
