Joe Gomez has signed a new five-year contract with the club.
The 25-year-old has been with the Reds since 2015.
Gomez has suffered serious knee and ankle injuries.
The best years are yet to come for me. He said that he needed more time to learn.
To make sure the best years are ahead, I think I have the chance to do it with the manager and the coaching staff around me.
He made 21 appearances for the club last season and helped them win the club world cup.
"Joe has experience and youth, that's not a bad combination," said the boss.
He is our longest-serving player because he was at the club before me.
His best years are still to come, and I am happy that this will happen with us.
