Gomez signed a new long-term contract with the club.

The England international has signed a five-year contract with the club.

Since joining from Charlton Athletic in June 2015, Gomez has won a number of titles, including the English premier league, the club world cup, and the Carabao cup.

The player, who can operate as either a centre-back or full-back, has been unfortunate with injuries during his time on the club, twice damaging his knee and fracturing his leg.

In seven years, Gomez has made 142 appearances for the club, but only 21 last season due to being fit.

He said it was a special moment for him and his family. I don't take for granted another one that you dream of as a child.

I think it is one of the best clubs in the world at the moment. It was an easy decision to prolong my stay here.

Liverpool already view Gomez as one of the top England centre backs and are excited at the prospect that there's more to come from him

Sky Sports News reporter Vinny O'Connor

"Obviously, I have been here a while now, but in the grand scheme of things I still feel young and the best years are ahead of me." I don't have enough time to learn everything.

To make sure the best years are ahead, I think I can do it with the manager and the coaching staff around me.

The sky is the limit for me. We would like to go one, if not two, better than last season.

"We definitely have the ability to do that and the belief is there, it's just about us taking it one game at a time, like we did last season, and just being true to ourselves."

We did a lot more than we did last season.

Gomez has been capped 11 times by his country and will be hoping to make the World Cup squad.

"Joe Gomez thinks he's at one of the best clubs in the world and that made his decision relatively straightforward."

He would have wanted to make more appearances than the 21 he did last season, after he was injured on international duty.

He feels that he can prove his best years are ahead of him if he stays at the club and continues his development.

He will live up to that, that's whatLiverpool have faith in. He is seen as an elite performer in an elite team and the length of his contract shows that.

They think they have an exemplary professional in Gomez. He is one of the top England centre-backs and the club are excited about the prospect of more from him.
