Jake Paul explains decision to face Hasim Rahman Jr. (1:44)

Jake Paul talked about his fight with Hasim Rahman Jr. There is a time and a place for this.

9:37 AM ET

Jake Paul's opponent for his fight at Madison Square Garden next month has been changed.

Hasim Rahman Jr., son of the former boxing champion of the same name, will fight Paul in August. Rahman has six knockouts in his pro boxing career. The eight-round bout will be broadcast on a pay per view channel.

Rahman is not a household name but he has more experience than Paul and is larger. After a lot of criticism that he was only interested in fighting older MMA fighters or athletes from other sports, Paul decided to fight a real boxer. Rahman is a more difficult opponent than Fury would have been according to Paul.

Paul said he's crazy. I don't think I should be fighting this fight. I would like to prove to the boxing world that I am a real dog. I'm going to go in there against a 12-1 kid who is bigger than Tommy and faster than Tommy. I'm going to put on a performance that will last a lifetime.

According to the founder of BAVAFA Sports, Paul was advised not to fight Rahman because of its high-risk, low-reward nature. Paul said his brother told him not to fight. The double main event with Paul and the women's boxing titleholder should be postponed, according to Bidarian.

Rahman will be the most difficult test for Paul to date. It doesn't have the same pay-per-view and ticket-selling cachet as previous Paul bouts, such as with former MMA champion and Olympian Ben Askren and retired NBA veteranNate Robinson

"I don't see the benefit of doing the fight at this stage, given all the other opportunities that are there for Jake," said Bidarian. Someone who is just there to build their record to lose to someone like Jake could be the one to prove himself against. He wanted to challenge himself, not what he wanted. His team believes they can beat Hasim Rahman Jr.

In his last bout, Rahman fought as heavy as 263 pounds and lost by a single point. The man is walking around at 195 pounds. He weighed in at 191.2 pounds for his knockout win over Woodley.

After the British boxer and reality show star said he had problems getting into the United States for a news conference last week, Paul decided to move on from him. Paul doesn't believe that Tyson's half-brother, who is also a boxer, really wanted to fight against him and that he won't do business with him again. Paul was supposed to fight Fury in December but he withdrew due to an illness.

We don't know if he was denied entry to the US. He doesn't want the smoke or the fight. I put people down. He is aware of how powerful I am.

If his promoter wants to handle all the logistics and pay me my fifteen million dollars to go to Europe and fight, then maybe we can start the discussion.

After the Rahman fight, Paul offered to fight Fury in the U.K.

Paul has some familiarity with Rahman. Paul and Rahman have fought before. He said it was a tough session and a war.

Paul said that he was a lot bigger than him. It's fascinating to deal with. I'm better at fighting now. He is a better fighter now. Who improved the most over the last 18 months?

If he beats Rahman, Paul believes it would be validation for him as a boxer and would silence the critics who have said he fights only older, small opposition.

Paul said that they would have to respect what he was doing. I want to be remembered for being willing to fight anyone, any time, anywhere. Living up to that is what I do. I want to be an example for fighters who don't take hard fights early in their career. It is a huge risk.
