Some of the country's wealthiest Republican donors are expected to attend a private event in Utah hosted by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, which is expected to signal a possible run for president in four years.
The private gathering will take place in Utah the week of July 18 according to people familiar with the situation. The campaign is trying to keep the private event out of the public eye.
Though he is coming to Utah to raise money for his reelection campaign, many of the events he holds in other states suggest national ambitions.
In each of the past six elections, Utah voters have chosen a Republican for president. Donald Trump defeated Joe Biden in the state in 2020.
The Utah Republican Party isn't co-hosting the event, but it will send someone to what's expected to include breakfast and lunch The event is private and not open to the public.
Jorgensen said in a text message that they want to see more events done in the state to support great candidates. He did not say when the gathering would take place or who would be hosting it.
The campaign doesn't discuss private fundraising events with members of the press.
He hasn't ruled out a candidacy, but he hasn't declared it. Even though he had to beat Trump in the Republican primary in order to run for president, he did not rule it out.

Nomi Health is a supporter of the candidate. According to campaign finance records, the healthcare company donated $100,000 to the Ron DeSantis political action committee after it was reported that the company received nearly $50 million in no-bid work from the governor's administration.
Nomi Health has given another $50,000 since then.
