Carlos Corberan has left his job.

The 39-year-old had been in charge of the club for just under two years, but he was let go.

He had two years left on his contract after leading Town to a third-place finish and a play-off final loss.

Danny will take over the running of the first team on July 29th.

The club finished 20th in the first season under Corberan.

"I know the timing of this news will come as a real shock to our supporters," chief executive Dean Hoyle told the club website.

We knew Carlos would be leaving as we had been working together to plan for the new season.

Carlos was thanked by everyone at the club for his hard work over the last two seasons. He should have a great career.

Schofield gives Huddersfield 'continuity'

Danny Schofield has taken over first-team affairs at Huddersfield Town

He has been a youth coach and an under-19s coach before becoming a head coach.

"He knows the club, the players, our coaching programme, and our structure as well as anyone and is ideally positioned to give us continuity."

Danny turned down the chance to become the head coach of a club in the top division of a European league because he believes in what we're doing here.

He's earned this opportunity because of the work he's done at our club.

Danny will be working with our staff as we prepare for our first game.

Analysis

Paul Ogden is a commentator for the radio station.

There is no big fall out with the board and Carlos Corberan is not leaving for a better offer somewhere else.

He had been privately concerned about the lack of squad resources that will be available to him compared to their rivals for promotion.

He thinks that getting third pace last season was the furthest he could possibly take this squad and is worried that the situation could change.

Two seasons ago, he took over from Danny Cowley and turned them into genuine promotion candidates.

Danny was an important figure in Corberan's coaching staff and should be introduced to the public.

Corberan acknowledged the Yorkshireman as an important member of his staff.
