The prime minister of the UK is going to step down.

The leader of the Conservative party agreed to step down on Thursday following the resignation of over 50 government ministers.

He is expected to issue a statement sometime on Thursday. During which time a new leader of the Conservative party would be elected, this has been met with fierce criticism.

There's been a huge reaction on the internet.

Sir Keir Starmer said that it was good news for the country that Boris Johnson had resigned. It should have taken place a long time ago. He was not fit for the job. He's been responsible for a lot of things. All those who have been involved should be embarrassed.

"Boris Johnson was always manifestly unsuitable to be PM and the Tories should never have elected him leader or sustained him in office for as long as they have been in power," said the First Minister of Scotland.
