According to a report from Mark Gurman, Apple is working on a version of the Apple Watch that will have a bigger screen and tougher design. According to the report, the sports model will have a nearly 2-inch display with 7 percent more area than the current 45mm watches and will be powered by a larger battery. The 45mm is the case size of the watch and not the screen size.

Gurman had previously reported on a potential rugged Apple Watch. He said in the past that Apple could make its watch more rugged by using a rubberized exterior. He says the plan is for a watch with a metal material and a shatter-resistant screen.

The rugged watch isn’t expected to come cheap

Apple makes a watch with a heartier metal and screen than the less expensive aluminum models, with a "Sapphire crystal display" compared to the "Ion-X glass" on the less expensive aluminum models. I have heard that the polished finish of the watches is very easy to scratch, and that they are aimed at people who are more concerned with fashion.

Gurman predicts that the extreme sports version will cost more than the current model and will be similar to the Apple watches. That is not out of the ordinary for rugged watches, like the Epix 2 and the Fenix 7S, which retail for around $900 and $700, respectively. It can last for days or weeks on a single charge, something current Apple Watches aren't typically capable of. Apple's current crop of Wearables are not as good as some of the watches from Garmin.

The lower-cost device that was released in 2020 is being worked on by Apple. It is good to hear that. Despite the fact that the next version of watchOS won't support the Series 3, Apple continues to sell it. The pricing situation at the low end of the watch lineup could be fixed with the introduction of a new SE.

According to the report, the rugged watch, the SE, and the Series 8 models will all use a new processor that will have the same performance as this year's chip. They are expected to have a temperature sensor.
