A rising high school senior from Kansas who committed to the Iowa women's basketball team on Sunday was seriously injured when she and her parents were hit by a car in Louisville.

Jones was playing for her club team at the Run 4 the Roses tournament. The vehicle drove onto the sidewalk. The driver who struck them was charged with four counts of first degree assault and driving under the influence. He said he took the drug Hydrocodone.

The Jones' were reported to be in critical condition. A child believed to be Jones' younger brother was taken to the hospital. Jones' injuries have not been made public but her grandmother said she was expected to recover.

The family needs prayers right now, according to the coach of Jones' team.

Jones is one of the top 100 prospects for the class of 2020. She was the leading scorer and rebounder for Nickerson High School in Kansas.

Jones originally committed to Arizona State but changed her mind after the Sun Devil's coach retired. On Sunday, Jones made her commitment to Iowa public. The school can't comment on Jones' condition since she hasn't signed with the school.
