The fully reconceptualized SandalsDunn's River in Ocho Rios is scheduled to open to the public on May 24,23.
The resort used to be part of the Sandals brand, but has been operating as a separate entity.
It was purchased for $30 million in 2020.
The 260 room property is undergoing a top to bottom restoration with new amenities.
The project is the last one that Adam Stewart and his father worked on. There was a death in January 2021.
His final work is this one. The location was chosen more than three decades ago for its white-sand coastline, breezes, azure waters and proximity to the archetypicalDunn's River Falls. Adam Stewart said that it will serve to breathe new excitement into a corner of Jamaica loved and cherished by so many, but also set a new standard of luxury for tourism in our own backyard.
The stand-alone Coyaba Swim-Up RondovalButler Suites with private pools and open-air rooftops with soaking tub are among the highlights.
L'Amande, a French and Jamaican restaurant, will be one of the new restaurants at the resort.
Nine bars will be there. There will be a selection of smooth rums, Jamaican craft cocktails, and games of Jamaican-rules dominoes at the club. The Laughing Waters beach bar is going to have bed style seating.
There is a rooftop bar in Jamaica. When the Arawak Hotel was built in the 1950's, it was designed by Morris Lapidus.
The Blue Mountain coffee will be served at the Blum Café.
Guests will be greeted by a cascading waterfall upon their arrival at the resort. The biggest pool in Jamaica mimics the flow of the river. The pool will be leveled to the sand and is one of five on site.
Adam Stewart said that his father first saw the joy of the island on the faces of visitors when he first learned to fish at Ocho Rios.
He witnessed a flourishing tourist industry and became aware of how to please and serve a new customer. At the new Sandals Dunn's River, every touch point is designed to do that.
