According to a source, the Cleveland Browns have agreed to trade quarterback Baker Mayfield to the Carolinas in exchange for a pick.

The Carolinas will pay more than the Cleveland will pay. A physical is needed to sign the deal.

Either a fourth- or fifth-round pick will be given to the Browns by the Carolina Hurricanes.

It was first reported by the network.

Sam Darnold, the third overall selection in the same year, is on the quarterback depth chart for the Carolinas. Matt Corral was drafted in the third round.

On the heels of Cleveland's blockbuster deal with the Houston Texans that landed quarterback Deshaun Watson, the team has traded quarterback Baker Mayfield. The richest deal in guaranteed money in the history of the National Football League was the new five-year contract signed by the Cleveland Indians. The Vikings traded three first-round picks to the Cowboys for running back Herschel Walker in 1989.

The deal ended the era in Cleveland. He made his debut in Week 3 of the season off the bench and led the team to their first win of the year. He finished second in the offensive rookies of the year voting, and broke the rookies record with 27 touchdown passes. The Los Angeles Clippers' Justin Herbert broke the record in 2020 with 31 touchdown passes.
