Sony Pictures and IGN have offered the first trailer for the newest telling of the Japanese classic . The film, simply re-titled , will take place during the same time as the original 2004 American remake while also having ties to the original Japanese Ju-On franchise, which also has a Netflix adaptation on the way.
In the footage above, we see John Cho (Cowboy Bebop) starring in this latest iteration as a realtor alongside Andrea Riseborough who plays a police officer. As a newcomer to the town, she visits the haunted home that's been grudged by a recent murder.
According to , director Nicolas Pesce explains: "We follow her, as well as two other storylines, that are all interacting with this grudged house in small-town America." Pesce continues: "like the old films, it's a tapestry of three different stories that interweave and all take place at slightly different times, centered around this one house that's at the center of this case that this cop is working on."
