Apple’s MacBook Air with M2 CPU goes on sale July 8th, ships July 15th

The MacBook Air with M2 processor has a shipping date. The new laptop will be available for pre-order on July 8th and will be shipping on July 15th. There is a 13-inch MacBook Pro with a Touch Bar available. While that familiar-looking model was first out of the gate with the second-generation chip, this MacBook Air is offering a whole lot more that is new, like a MagSafe charging port, and a larger display.

The more colorful and unique looking MacBook Air has a lower starting price than the 13-inch Pro counterpart. Unlike prior Air laptops, it shifts away from a wedge shaped design to a more conventional slab and comes in a new dark color.

In our brief hands-on with a demo unit, it was obvious that the Air is thin and light. It now has a notch at the top of its larger screen, just like the MacBook Pros with M1 Pro and M1 Max processors, though it seems more appealing than being stuck with a Touch Bar.

On paper, there seems to be a lot of promise in the new MacBook Air, but we will have to see how it is.
