The Morning After: ASUS’ ROG Phone 6 has a clip-on thermoelectric cooler

The new powerful gaming phone from ASUS is all about bigger specifications and better performance. It has a larger display with a bigger battery and up to 18GB of RAM.

The clip-on cooler is the most significant change. There is a "Frozen" mode in the updated Armoury Crate app that pushes its chip to the max. The AeroActive Cooler 6 can lower the ROG Phone 6's surface temperature by up to a staggering 25 degrees Celsius, which sounds more like a portable air cooler than a phone accessory. The ROG Phone 6 series will be available in Europe for 999. The US is still available.

NASA's CAPSTONE satellite has gone dark

European Union passes landmark laws to rein in big tech

The Digital Markets and Services Acts are designed to level the playing field.

Big Tech's power has been reined in by the European Union. The Digital Markets Act and Digital Services Act are designed to promote fair competition, improve privacy protection, and ban targeted advertising. The EU has given both bills plenty of teeth, and can dole out a maximum penalty of 10 percent of its total worldwide turnover from the previous year. If officials find repeated non-compliance, this figure will increase to 20 percent.

The company also filed a complaint against a scraping-for-hire firm.

Meta filed lawsuits against a company called Octopus and a person named Ekrem Ate. According to Meta, the former is the US subsidiary of a Chinese multinational tech firm that offers data scrapers for hire.

People can use the software to carry out their own data collection campaigns. According to Meta, this program compromises the accounts of the user by giving them theirauthentication information, and then proceeds to steal all the data from that person's accounts.
