The flags of the Luhansk People's Republic and the Donetsk People's Republic are displayed on the International Space Station by Russia's Federal Space Agency.

The use of the International Space Station as a political bargaining chip following Russia's invasion of Ukraine is being described as blatant propaganda.

Luhansk is a part of the eastern Donbas region of Ukranian. Since the beginning of Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February of 2022, fighting has been particularly intense over the two regions that have been the focus of the conflict. The Russian military achieved victory in the Luhansk region.

On July 4th, the propaganda images were posted on the social media site Telegram. The photographs show the three cosmonauts smiling and holding the flags of Luhansk and Donetsk. Artemyev was the commander of the International Space Station.

There is no doubt that the International Space Station is being used for pro-Russian, anti-Ukranian propaganda. "This is a long-awaited day that residents of the occupied areas of the Luhansk region have been waiting for," the post on Telegram said. July 3, 2022, will be remembered as the day that the republic fell.

The core values of the International Space Station are supposed to be a symbol of international cooperation and peace, according to Terry Virts, a former NASA Astronaut. The International Space Station is being used to promote their illegal and immoral war, where civilians are being killed daily.

Russia's space agency has been trying to politicize the space station. Since the beginning of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the head of Roscosmos has been giving out a lot of propaganda. It was taken as a threat that Russia might leave the International Space Station. "I believe that the restoration of normal relations between partners in the International Space Station and other joint projects is possible only with the complete and unrestricted lifting of illegal sanctions," he wrote.

International cooperation on the space station has not been affected by Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
