There are electric vehicles in China.

The World Economic Forum said that China's EV market was the largest in the world in terms of passenger car sales in 2020. According to data from Mordor Intelligence, it was worth $122 billion in 2021.

Four out of five of the top car manufacturers in China are local. The data compiled by EV Volumes shows that the third-largest share in China's EV market was held byTesla. According to EV Volumes, the US company, run by billionaire Musk, has a 6.6% market share in China. In China, it sold over 300,000 units.

China's domestic manufacturers produce diesel-run cars as well as electric ones.

There are four fierce competitors in China. The manufacturers are arranged according to their market share. Data from January to May is reflected in the manufacturers' market shares.

BYD had a 27.9% market share in China during the first five months of the year. The parent company of the manufacturer is BYD Co.

BYD made five of the 10 best selling plug-in vehicles in China. The manufacturer makes both battery-powered electric vehicle, or BEV, and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, orPHEV, versions of its plug-in vehicle models.

The BYD Song was the second best-selling plug-in vehicle in China during the first five months of the year.
