According to Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports, the Atlantic Coast Conference has proposed a "loose partnership" with the Pacific-12 that could include a season-ending "championship game" in Las Vegas.

Dodd said that the proposal is being seen as a way to increase the value of the current media rights contract.

Dodd was writing.

The proposal is seen as a strength in numbers move by sources. It would be something to combat the growing financial gap between the SEC and Big Ten, since the 24 combined teams wouldn't have nearly the clout of the 32 combined teams.

The news came after John Canzano reported that the two conferences were talking. He reported that the conferences could play regular season games.

It is hoped that having teams from both conferences compete in games will help keep the conferences relevant.

According to Dodd, the rights for the teams without USC and UCLA are worth $30 million per year. The rights for each team were $42 million.

After UCLA and USC announced last week that they were leaving the conference to join the Big Ten, the conference pushed up negotiations for its next media rights agreements.

When UCLA and USC join the Big Ten, it will match the number of teams in the SEC after Texas and Oklahoma decided to leave the Big 12.

The conference is down to 10 schools. The board of directors of the conference authorized a search for expansion schools after UCLA and USC left.

We will have to wait and see if the conference locks up a deal with the Atlantic Coast Conference.
