The decision by UCLA and USC to leave for the Big Ten has caused the Pac-12 to push up negotiations for its next media rights agreement.

After a meeting Tuesday morning, the board of directors of the Pac-12 authorized negotiations.

The conference's current media rights deal expires in 2024, but the conference accelerated the timetable for negotiations for the next one with two of its marquee programs headed out the door

The Pac-12 will lose its second-largest media market when UCLA and USC leave for the Big Ten in four years.

If the two Southern California schools were to leave, the distribution number for the Pac-12 would likely go down.
