Oakland police and the A's said Tuesday that four baseball fans were injured by bullet fragments from outside the Coliseum after a fireworks show.
Police and the A's said that none of the injuries were life threatening.
The fireworks show was delayed because it wasn't dark yet. Fans from a season-high crowd of 24,403 were allowed onto the field at the end of the game.
Police and the A's said in a statement that the Oakland Police Department is investigating firearm-related injuries that occurred in the 7000 block of Coliseum Way.
Three fans were hit by bullet fragments from celebratory gunfire occurring throughout the city of Oakland, after police were notified of a possible shooting victim inside the ballpark. Another person entered a hospital.
If it wasn't the 4th of July, it would be worse. "Any time during Fourth of July, it's never safe, but people tend to do things that aren't in the ordinary," said Mark Kotsay, the A's manager. Weapons are being fired in the air. There were people injured when that happened in the coliseum. I'm aware that we've reached out to them.
The Oakland Police Department and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering a reward of up to $20,000 for information that leads to an arrest or convictions.
The police and the A's worked together to keep the crowd safe at the games.
The Coliseum is a safe place to be. People were injured at the fireworks show.
