The carrier will be launching flights to Canada, marking the carrier's third route to the continental US.

Fiji Airways launches Nadi to Vancouver route

On November 25, 2022, there will be 2x weekly flights between the two cities. On Mondays and Fridays, the route will run.

The flight leaves at 10:15PM and arrives at 3:20PM.

The flight leaves at 9:40PM and arrives at 6:30AM (2 days)

There is a flight that covers a distance of over 5,000 miles.

A total of 273 seats will be used on the service. There are 24angled business class seats and 249Economy class seats. You can read my review of the A330 class. The flight won't be operated by the new A350s, which feature a better business class product.

The airline will operate to three destinations in the US, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Honolulu.

It should be possible to redeem mileage currency for this service if you are a partner of Alaska Mileage Plan or American AAdvantage.

I’m surprised Vancouver was chosen over Seattle

The obvious choice for a new airline to launch flights to Canada would beVancouver. The airline did not launch flights to Seattle.

  • Air Tahiti Nui recently announced it would launch Tahiti to Seattle flights; obviously Fiji and Tahiti are somewhat different markets, but they’re both popular tourist destinations, and both airlines offer connectivity to other places in the South Pacific, like New Zealand
  • Fiji Airways has a partnership with Alaska Mileage Plan, so Fiji Airways would have lots of feed there, while that won’t be the case in Vancouver; who knows, maybe an Air Canada Aeroplan partnership is imminent?
  • With the USD being much stronger than the CAD, there’s often significantly more pricing power out of the United States rather than Canada, even though Vancouver is an affluent market

This decision is curious to me. It's possible that Air Tahiti Nui chose Seattle because the airlines compete in some markets.

Bottom line

The carrier will launch 2x weekly flights between the two cities in late 2022. It is great to see the expansion of the airline. The travel time between the two cities is cut a lot.

What do you think about the new route of the airline?
