It seems like it's the summer of 2016 because the Warriors are once again on the table, and rumors are heating up that Kevin Durant is going to join them. The market is taking shape according to reports. The Warriors were one of the first teams to be rumored and this tells a lot about their level of interest. One of the best trade packages could be offered by the Warriors. Analysts are saying that players like Jonathan Kuminga are not worth trading for. Most NBA fans don't think KD to the Warriors could happen again, but the groundwork is there. KD would never want to return to Golden State. Is he really interested in winning another title? KD had the chance to win more titles with Golden State when he became a free agent. Even though he was injured, he could have stayed with the Warriors and helped them win more titles. He wanted to show that he could lead a team to a title on his own. Despite the Warriors winning a title and 73 games in back-to-back years, he still claims that the team was never a winning one before he left. KD was said to be jealous of Curry because Golden State fans always chose Curry over him. He didn't feel like it was his team. KD claimed that it was incorrect and that the media was trying to start something. It's hard to believe that there isn't at least some truth in the rumors that he got into a spat with Draymond Green on the court. After the Warriors won the NBA title, it took him a while to say hello to them. As Curry hoisted his first-ever NBA Finals Most Valuable Player trophy, he was posting stories about Drake on his social media accounts. When he finally did congratulate the Warriors, it was in response to a disgruntled fan who claimed that his legacy was dead.
I don't need to argue about how his legacy is still alive. It doesn't look like it is. The Warriors wouldn't bring him back for a second round if it was true. He is the greatest pure scorer ever. After the Warriors won another title without KD, a move to Golden State would emphasize the points that he had been trying to make since he left the Bay Area.
This will always be the team of Stephen. The fans and front office will always value Stephen over Kevin because of what he was able to do before and after he was a teammate.
KD left Golden State to show he didn't need them. There was an argument that the Warriors needed KD to win. They might have been the missing piece of the puzzle after they blew a three-point lead. This time, it doesn't work. The Warriors didn't have to face a Game 7 in the playoffs.
Even though he doesn't care what people think of his legacy, he does. He spends a lot of his time on social media arguing with people who don't agree with his decisions in his career.
