A group of former Trump legal advisors who pushed to overturn the results of the 2020 election were subpoenaed in Fulton County, Georgia, signalling a special grand jury's investigation into former President Donald Trump's attempts to overturn his loss in Georgia.
Rudy Giuliani and John Eastman are two of the seven people on the subpoena list.
Lindsey Graham and Jacki Pick Deason were subpoenaed along with the Georgia Secretary of State.
According to documents filed in court Tuesday, the judge signed off on the subpoenas last week.
McBurney wrote in issuing Giuliani's subpoena that the Witness has "unique knowledge concerning communications between himself, former President Trump, the Trump Campaign, and other known and unknown individuals involved in the multi- state, coordinated efforts to influence the results of the November 2020 election in Georgia and elsewhere
The witnesses will testify on July 12th.
The special grand jury was empaneled in May of this year to investigate Trump's post- election conduct. A separate grand jury would need to indict Trump or anyone else if wrongdoing is found in the special grand jury's investigation. The Georgia investigation is unrelated to the federal investigations into the election results. Several clips of Giuliani testifying in front of Georgia lawmakers after the 2020 election have been played by the committee. Georgia, which hadn't gone for a Democrat in a presidential election in 25 years, was one of the states the former president lost in 2020. After the election, Trump launched attacks against Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp and also tried to help his opponents in the primary.
There is an investigation going on in Georgia as the district attorney prepares a grand jury.
John Eastman is a person. The attorney is at the center of the strategy. There is a magazine called "Forbes."
A person familiar with the inquiry says that Graham's call with Raffensperger will be looked at.
